A Narrowing Path.

A popular narrative suggests that in the 1970s, environmentalism arose and changed the world. It certainly produced alternatives like organic farming – but it did not challenge the trajectory of most monocultures. Much points to an ongoing cumulative radicalization that makes monocultures more brutal and set on its course than ever, and many control efforts remain totemic. Few political fields have produced a failure on a par with environmental regulation of agriculture (yes, we know about the quagmire of climate policy). Times being as they are, monocultures go down a narrowing path.
